The things i love

I love the joy of laughing from the depths of my belly and the radiance that happiness illuminates when I am fully in my skin. I love this path that teaches me only, how to sing from the heart. I love the feel of the fabric of words as they slide off tongues and settle onto my skin. I love the consciousness of creating word tones and energies that stimulate and grow this world exquisitely. I love the siren call of music that never fails to draws us in, again and again. I love the way our hearts and ears instinctively bend and lean in to this intimate language, our universal mother tongue. I love it’s ancient refrain, a soothing balm, a welcome hand around the heart, touching us simply with the language of love. I love being an artist and the privilege it affords me to share my gifts with the world. And so through the mirror of self-reflection and the channel of art, my aim is simply this, to live my passion; to share; to heal; to inspire and to love.

and so we dance

and so we dance

arms stretched high

fingertips touching the ceiling of sky

calling up a tidal wave of smiles

dispelling the tension lining our worn out faces

washing worry away

and so we dance

painting the walls with liquid laughter

and the heady sweat of letting go

psyches transformed like floating ribbons

flashing purple red green and gold

and so we dance

eyes closed in blissful reverie

addicts high on the I-feel-good twin opiates

rhythm and melody

we dance a passion, a dream

a hunger, a joy

we dance a loss, an anger

a wish, a need

but mostly, yes mostly we dance a joy

and so we dance

the dance of trees

limbs flailing reach extending

wild and wanton with orgasmic abandon

forever held

forever lead

by the master wind’s hand

pushing in

pulling out

firmly holding the damp give of our back

and so we dance

we glide

we flow

we hold on

we let go

we let go

we jive

we gyrate

we shimmy

we shake

we keep moving

to know

that we are alive

yes we dance to know

that we are dancers

encircling our own destiny

and so we dance

the quiet

the quiet sits with me each night

breathes beside me

breathes inside me

exhales words that mark a page

looking in

rain inside the world

me inside the room

each of us looking in

through the veil of window

Thought for the day

imagine . create . inspire.  love . trust . laugh.

imagine anything magical; create it through action; inspire others through your boldness and passion; love doing what you do; trust that the universe is working with you to make it happen; laugh as you watch the dream being realised.

There is a holiness

there is a holiness

in leaf’s instinctive turning

to the loving gaze of the sun

there is a holiness

in seasons’ knowing

that change will always come

there is a holiness

in oceans’ trusting

of taking in and letting go

there is a holiness

in the planets circling

the seamless dance of flow

there is a holiness

in the reach and stretch

of this fragile resilient skin

holding body mind and spirit

from without and from within

there is a holiness

a silent sage

leading with compassion as the guide

there is a holiness

a language born into

that only speaks true north inside

there is a holiness

in the heart’s exquisite call response

to the ancient drummer’s time

there is a holiness

a luminous skein connecting

each perfectly sculpted bead of being sublime

there is a holiness

a sacred bell resounding

whose call we can block out

but never ignore

there is a holiness

patiently waiting

outside every open or shut door

no need for fear or wariness

it asks nothing of you

it simply comes to tell you this

there is a holiness

my heart is filled with a thousand stars that will not sleep tonight

their song of praise

ricochets

against the black board of sky

piercing holes through which the light shines

showering crystal words that fall like holy water

washing me

cleansing me

reminding me

that i am

i am incomparable

robust words like loyal friends

collect my broken limbs

and gently bind me whole again

wrapping me

cushioning me

in soft cotton bandages

forming me anew

making me magnificent

warrior words

swift like arrows

hit their mark bulls-eye

severing the ties of lies

that  bound me to the untruth

that i am not worthy

words like diamonds

sharp as blades

cut deep at the tangled roots of my fear

releasing an ancient well of tears

which surge and gush and push and roar

forming pools

in the black holes of my eyes

they overflow their banks

they spill their guts

their echoes rise into the sky

like birds they fly

then fall and fall

down my cheeks

burning rivers

as my heart reconnects

and speaks its forgotten language

remembering the sweetness of my soul’s mother tongue

burning rivers down my cheeks

as my heart renews it’s ancient knowing

reclaiming the truth of my noble belonging

burning rivers down my cheeks

as my heart returns to the sacred hearth

calling back my spirit

calling back my spirit

calling back the essence of my name

i breathe in your blessed words

i heal in the balm of your haloed words

they fire the passion that rides

the blood red rivers of my burning veins

and just like that my heart cracks open

shedding that desperate unknowing skin

revealing a timeless and tireless heart that boldly beats anew

murmuring

whispering

chanting

praying

i am incomparable

i am incomparable

rising swiftly it proudly stands

a giant astride a mountaintop

clear in its conviction

absolute in its affirmation

proclaiming simply this

i am incomparable

and the smiles of a thousand suns shine in my eyes

yes the smiles of a thousand suns shine in my eyes

look what you’ve done

look what you’ve done

NOTE:I wrote this poem after watching the poets Anis Mojgani and D’bi Young perform their poems. Both are powerful performers who strongly advocate the importance of remembering our true essence, that we are born powerful and gifted beyond imagination. As we grow older doubt settles in undermining our belief in our self value and worth and we forget the legacy of our birthright. But thankfully we have guides who come to remind us who we are. All we need to do is listen and remember. Anis and D’bi did this for me. They inspired and helped me see myself again and for this I am deeply grateful.
